I Prefer (Stomp Version)

The "Stomp" version is by no way a tip of the hat to western w swing artist Spade Cooley, who stomped his wife to death and die on death row. We recorded two versions for the Dark Lullaby musical, a laconic one and another with stomping drums which surprisingly only clocks in a few seconds faster than the slower one. Both versions (the other is on the Dark Lullaby cast album) feature the leanest skeleton crew on a San Jacinto Prison Band track, speedily recorded while the rest of the group was on a smoke break.
